Peanut Run 2013

I was woken up this morning by my father as a last minute
passenger on the Peanut Run. A Corvette run put on by The
Northern California Corvette Club (http://www.nccacorvettes.org/). The route started in Castro Valley, then up through the hills passing Chabot Space Center, and finally ending at Quinn's Lighthouse in Oakland.

The weather was alright today, a bit too overcast and cloudy with some sprinkles towards the end. However, it still was convertible weather just with jackets.

The turn out for the event started out thin but as the time approached 10:30 there was a huge turn out. The last numbers I heard before we left was around 35 - 45 people, with the amount of Corvettes being about half those figures.

Leaving the plush cozy neighborhoods of Castro Valley, we took the backroads to our destination. In the drivers meeting we had numerous warnings about bicyclists on our route up past The Chabot Space Center. The narrow two lane twisty road was peppered with riders around almost every corner. As much as everyone wanted to have a track day in the backroads, safety to others and ourselves was the first priority. So minimal bursts of speed were done in the turns.

By the time we got to Quinn's everyone was hungry, since the original number of people signed up was under 20. The pub was a bit surprised to see 40 or so hungry Corvette enthusiasts marching up the stairs. Being in the company of friends and club members, the common subject of chatter was none other than Corvettes. Whether it being the personal preference of the new C7 or the next upgrade to be done, everyone had a great time sharing stories and a few beers.
